Dental Medicine’s Aaron Weinberg and Medicine’s Parameswaran Ramakrishnan test antiviral molecules as a defense against SARS-CoV-2

Aaron Weinberg, professor at the School of Dental Medicine, and Parameswaran Ramakrishnan, professor of pathology and biochemistry, recently co-authored a study investigating a method for impeding the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 at the molecular level. Weinberg, Ramakrishnan and colleagues tested the efficacy of human beta defensins in inhibiting the spread of CoV-2 into human cells.

Weinberg’s and Ramakrishnan’s study, “HBD-2 binds SARS-CoV-2 RBD and blocks viral entry: Strategy to combat COVID-19,” was published by ResearchGate, Science Direct, PubMed, to name a few.
