CWRU’s Philip Cola and J.B. Silvers offers warnings for potential Medicaid cuts

‘It’s pretty callous’: Medicaid cuts could increase death rates, experts warn

cleveland.com (subscription required): Philip Cola, professor at Weatherhead School of Management and an associate professor at the School of Medicine, and J.B. Silvers, the Albert J. Weatherhead III Professor of Management at Weatherhead School of Management, warned that cutting Medicaid would increase deaths, strain hospitals and hurt working families. “People don’t go and seek the help that they probably know that they need,” Cola said. Silvers added hospitals face a “huge hit” from uncompensated care if coverage is lost.
