Men’s tennis team to host first three rounds of the NCAA Division III Championships this weekend

For the first time in program history, the seventh-ranked Case Western Reserve University men’s tennis team will play host to the first three rounds of the NCAA Division III Championships from Friday, May 13, through Sunday, May 15.

Both the Spartans and 17th-ranked Kenyon College will receive first-round byes, as the top two seeded teams at the site. First-round matches on Friday include an 11 a.m. meeting between Franciscan University and Grove City College, with the winner advancing to play Case Western Reserve Saturday at 11 a.m. On Friday at 3 p.m., 35th-ranked Kalamazoo College will take on Messiah College, with the winning team advancing to the second round to face Kenyon at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The winning teams will compete in the third-round match on Sunday at 1 p.m., with the victor advancing to the quarterfinals in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on May 23.

All matches are scheduled to be played at the Carlton Courts.

The competition throughout the weekend is expected to be high, with five conference champions, three nationally ranked teams, the three top-ranked singles players in the Central Region, and three of the top eight ranked doubles teams in the region in action.
