Three Case Western Reserve University students and their faculty advisor received awards for their research poster and paper at the American Society of Civil Engineers’ 2018 Space and Earth Conference.
The research poster created by undergraduate student Xiyu Zhang and co-authored by PhD candidate Jiale Li and Professor Xiong (Bill) Yu, won the best undergraduate student poster award. Their winning poster was titled “Improve Energy Production by Using Bio-inspired Wind Turbine Blades.”
Yuan Guo, a PhD candidate, won second place in the student paper competition. His paper, titled “Framework to Holistically Predict the Behaviors of Cohesive Granular Materials,” was judged by a panel of experts in space exploration. Yu was also the advisor for this paper.
