CWRU Steel Bridge Team finishes second in regionals, will head to nationals next month

The Case Western Reserve University Steel Bridge Team competed in the regional Student Steel Bridge Competition Saturday, April 13, finishing with a second place finish overall.

The team designed and modeled the 22-foot-long bridge during the fall semester and fabricated it this spring using the Bingham structures lab and Larry Sears and Sally Zlotnick Sears think[box].

Students on the team represent the civil, mechanical, aerospace, and electrical engineering and computer science departments across five years of study.

Next, the team will head to the national competition June 1 in Carbondale, Illinois, marking the first time in several years that Case Western Reserve will send a team to nationals.
