CWRU Shield app to undergo planned maintenance this weekend

Shield-featEditor’s Note: As of June 30, 2019, Case Western Reserve uses Rave Guardian. CWRU Shield is no longer active and should be deleted from all mobile devices. Download Rave Guardian on the App Store and Google Play.

CWRU Shield, the location-based smartphone safety app, will undergo maintenance today (Dec. 19) from 5 to 6 p.m. and tomorrow (Dec. 20) from midnight to 6 a.m.

During these times, users accessing the app to report emergencies will be directed to 911 instead of the nearest authorities.

CWRU Shield launched in April and is an effort to:

  • provide students, staff and faculty new ways to report suspicious behavior and actual incidents; and
  • give first responders additional options to obtain key information in case of an emergency.

The free app can be downloaded on the iPhone App Store or on Google Play.
