The Washington PostSydney Brannoch, a PhD candidate, and Gavin Svenson, adjunct assistant professor of biology, recently used the female genitalia of praying mantises to distinguish different species. In doing so, they discovered a new species, which they named Ilomantis ginsburgae in honor of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
