CWRU Ice Hockey Club wins College Hockey East D4 Championship

The Case Western Reserve University Ice Hockey Club team recently competed in the College Hockey East D4 playoffs, coming out victorious as the league champions.

The team entered the playoffs as the second seed and played its first game against St. Vincent College. After a decisive 4-1 win, the team was set to play undefeated Denison University for the championship trophy.

The team played well in the first period, ending it with a 4-0 lead. In the two periods to follow, CWRU secured its win with senior goaltender Patrick Balsam stopping 34 of 35 shots sent his way and first-year Takoda Denhof completing a hat trick (three goals in a single game). The Spartans won the game 6-1 and was awarded the trophy.
