Guns leading cause of child death in 2020
WKYC: Daniel Flannery, director of the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education, and Edward Barksdale, the Robert J. Izant, Jr. Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics, discussed a new study showing that, in 2020, guns surpassed car accidents for the leading cause of child death. “For me, this was not a surprise; we saw this crossover point in Cleveland eight to 10 years ago,” Barksdale said.
