CWRU dance department opens 2015-16 season with “Permanent Moments”

Permanent Moments performanceThe Department of Dance at Case Western Reserve University will open its 2015-16 performance season with “Permanent Moments,” on Oct. 30 and 31 at 8 p.m., Nov. 1 at 2:30 p.m. and Nov. 5, 6 and 7 at 8 p.m., at Mather Dance Center.

The concert will feature “Triptych” by guest artist Larry Keigwin, in addition to new and revisited works by department faculty. Created by Keigwin in 2009, the work has never been performed by dancers outside of his New York-based company.

Department of Dance Professor and Artistic Director Gary Galbraith also will restage his work “Islands of Desire,” which explores the travails of a couple who long to reconnect but are hampered by the ever-present multimedia that infuses the lovers’ personal space.

Tickets are $7 for students, $10 for CWRU employees and senior citizens at least 60 years old, and $15 for general admission. Student discounts are available for all but the Nov. 7 performance.

Reservations are recommended by calling 216.368.5246 or online at dance.case.edu/reservations. Tickets also are available at Mather Dance Center before each performance.
