Faculty and staff are invited to attend an open house at the CWRU Community Pantry (formerly the Physical Resource Center) Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to tour the space and celebrate its new name. The open house will take place inside the pantry, located at Carlton Commons (11892 Carlton Road). Those planning to attend should register for the open house in CampusGroups.
The CWRU Community Pantry—then the Physical Resource Center—originally opened its doors in 2020 as a student-led initiative focused on providing access to clothing, kitchenware, books, shoes and other necessities, along with a humble selection of food items. Since then, the need for food resources has continued to increase and focus has shifted from physical resources to food resources, prompting the name change to better reflect their mission.
Today’s CWRU Community Pantry works to ensure students, faculty, staff and community members have equal access to sufficient safe, nutritious and culturally significant food. It provides perishable and non-perishable grains, vegetables, fruits, proteins, dairy products, hygiene and cleaning products, beverages and more.
