Recently the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics’ Bright Spots in Hispanic Education National Online Catalog was announced. Esperanza Inc. will be included in the catalog, which features more than 230 programs that invest in key education priorities for Hispanics.
Case Western Reserve University is involved in the organization’s efforts. Suzanne Rivera, vice president for research and assistant professor of bioethics, sits on the board of Esperanza. In addition, the university hosts a “Saturday Academy” every year to encourage Latino high school students to think about college.
Earlier this year, Esperanza awarded four CWRU undergraduate students scholarships for their academic achievements.
