CWRU blog server to be permanently shut down Sept. 16

With the prevalence of more widely available blogging options (including Blogger through the university’s Google Suite of applications), the Case Western Reserve University blog server, http://blog.case.edu/, will be permanently shut down Monday, Sept. 16.

In preparation for the shutdown, the site was made read-only and no new content was able to be posted as of Monday, Aug. 12.

Though very few blogs still are in use through blog.case.edu, those users with active content hosted on the site should contact the University Technology ([U]Tech) Service Desk at help@case.edu, 216.368.HELP (4357) or help.case.edu for help with finding a replacement solution.

After the shutdown, archival content that is no longer being updated should be available for the foreseeable future via the Internet Archive’s “Wayback Machine” site, where it will also remain available to online search engines like Google, Bing, etc. In addition, [U]Tech can provide a complete copy of authors’ blog pages at their request.

For assistance with any technology product or service at Case Western Reserve University, contact the [U]Tech Service Desk at help@case.edu or 216.368.4357 (HELP) or visit help.case.edu.
