Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department honors Mandel School’s Mark Singer

The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department selected Mark Singer, the Leonard W. Mayo Professor in Family and Child Welfare, for its Citizen’s Award. Singer also is the deputy director of the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education.

Annually, the award is given to a civilian who furthers law enforcement and community safety. Chief Executive Officer and Safety Director Jeffery Patterson and Chief of Police Andrés González presented Singer with the award Dec. 15.

Singer leads the Police Assisted Referral program, an initiative that seeks to reach children and families who have experienced violence, whether as a victim or a witness. Read more about his efforts in a recent issue of Think magazine.

The program is a collaboration among Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department, FrontLine, the Partnership for a Safer Cleveland and the Begun Center.
