Cuyahoga County Council member to visit Public Affairs Discussion Group

Julian RogersAt this Friday’s Public Affairs Discussion Group, special guest Julian Rogers, councilor for District 10 of the Cuyahoga County Council, will discuss the new Cuyahoga County government.

The county’s government underwent substantial changes in 2011, as an elected, countywide executive and 11-member council replaced the former three-member county commission. Additionally, each member is elected from a geographic district, rather than at-large.

Rogers, a graduate of the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations, will discuss what decisions the council influences, what they hope to accomplish and what is reasonable for constituents to expect.

The discussion will take place Friday, April 12, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Community Studies.

Since 1989, faculty, emeriti, students and staff have gathered on Fridays for a brown-bag lunch and to discuss topics in public affairs.
