The Department of Sociology will host a talk titled “Cultural Logic of How Wealthy Families Manage Their Wealth” Friday, Sept. 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Community Studies Center, Room 108

Annette Lareau, author of three award-winning books—Listening to People, Unequal Childhoods and Home Advantage—will present. In 2023, University of California Press published Blair Sackett and Lareau’s ethnographic study, “We Thought It would be Heaven: Refugees in an Unequal America.” Lareau is a past president of the American Sociological Association.
