“Creating the Role: How Actors Bring Characters to Life”

How does an actor bring a character to life? Members of the Case Western Reserve University community can find out during an ‘open rehearsal,’ as cast members from the original production of Dominique Morisseau’s Blood at the Root share stories about how they worked with the director and playwright to create their characters, and the world of the play.

The Departme of Theater will host this open rehearsal, held via Zoom, today (Sept. 26) from 7 to 8 p.m. as part of its Professional Workshop series.

Attendees will learn the techniques professional actors use when they are creating a role. Guest artists from the original cast include: Stori Ayers (Raylynn), Christian Thompson (De’Andre) and Allison Scarlet Jaye (Toria).

This is a free event. To receive the Zoom link, register to attend.
