Available for purchase are nearly 100 handcrafted hats, scarves and accessories for all ages. Prices range from $7 to $30 to accommodate all budgets. Cash, check or Case Cards will be accepted as payment.
All proceeds will go to the City Mission and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Crafters@Case also filled four large boxes with more than 120 hats and scarves as a donation to Care Alliance and the City Mission. Any products not sold will be donated.
Crafters@Case began in March of 2013 with five staff members from the School of Medicine. Today, the group is composed of 25 members. The original goal of the group was to knit and crochet hats and scarves for homeless adults as well as providing a welcoming, relaxing and nurturing environment for participants. The goal has since expanded to include yarn crafted items, products for homeless of all ages, and finally, donating all sales proceeds of Crafters@Case products to organizations that feed the homeless.
Brinn Omabegho, one of the founders of Crafters@Case, shared that in Cuyahoga County alone there are 8,500 homeless individuals, of which children make up 3,500.
