After eight years in University Circle, Constantino’s Market has closed.
One of Uptown’s inaugural merchants, the local urban grocery provided a unique mix of grocery essentials, bakery, deli, grab-and-go meals, extensive wine and beer selection—as well as loft and outdoor seating.
“We are grateful to Constantino’s for being part of the beginning of Uptown’s residential-dining-and-shopping project when it first launched in 2012,” said Richard Jamieson, the university’s vice president for campus services. “We wish them well, and know our students, faculty and staff will miss having such a special corner market.”
In response to the weekend’s closure, Jamieson said that additional shuttle service to the Dave’s Markets location in Cleveland Heights will begin later this week. The university also hopes to establish a short-term convenience-type option for Uptown, and is exploring opportunities for a more permanent tenant to fill the space.
“Constantino’s filled an important need for members of the Case Western Reserve community as well as others who live and work in University Circle,” Jamieson said. “Whether someone wanted a quick bite or a couple of ingredients for dinner that night, the store offered a quick and friendly experience. We will be looking for a vendor that can offer similar services.”
