Conducting social justice related-research? Apply now for funding through the Social Justice Institute

The Social Justice Institute is accepting applications for its 2018-19 social justice research fellowships. Awards are given to faculty members and undergraduate and graduate students interested in receiving support for research or projects related to social justice in any discipline.

Social justice is defined as eradicating systems of power and oppression with the purpose of advancing fairness and equality through the redistribution of resources and opportunities, and exalting human dignity and respect.

The following funding amounts are offered:

  • Faculty: up to $10,000
  • Graduate students: up to $3,500
  • Undergraduate students: up to $2,000.

Awards will be used to reimburse expenses associated with the research or project. Examples of allowable expenses include:

  • Airfare to the site of the research;
  • The cost of housing at the site of the research;
  • Program supplies for projects;
  • Stipends to be paid to research participants/interviewees;
  • Printing costs for study-related materials; and
  • Data sets.

Applications are available online at case.edu/socialjustice/research/fellowships/. The deadline for all applications is Friday, March 2.

Fellows will be selected by May and awards may be used beginning in summer 2018, continuing through the end of the 2018-19 academic year.
