Computer and Data Science Chair Vipin Chaudhary talks about cloning voices with AI

Fox 8Vipin Chaudhary, chair of the Department of Computer and Data Sciences and the Kevin J. Kranzusch Professor, said that three seconds is all the time it takes for someone to clone a person’s voice using artificial intelligence—a voice that can then be made to say anything, in any language and with any number of emotions. “There is both good and bad, I think it’s how you use it,” he said. “It’s a technology so it’s how we set up regulations that is going to dictate so that the bad is limited.”
