Fremont News-Messenger: The economy has forced more people into poverty, and often people who have not lived in poverty most of their lives don’t know what help is available, such as food stamps and utility bill assistance. “They don’t know how to get these benefits,” said Claudia Coulton, co-director of the Center on Urban Poverty & Community Development. “They might not know they exist.”
