Evelyn Adkins, assistant professor of classics at Case Western Reserve University, recently wrote a book titled Discourse, Knowledge, and Power in Apuleius’ Metamorphoses, published by the University of Michigan Press.
Adkins’ book has been described as the “first in-depth examination of speech and discourse as tools of characterization in Metamorphoses.” Adkins explores a novel approach to understanding the ancient Latin novel Metamorphoses by examining the relationship between discourse, identity and social relations in the High Roman Empire.
