The Office of Education Abroad selected the winners of the fifth annual Study Abroad Photo Contest. More than 100 photos were submitted across four categories: Landscapes, Buildings, and Bridges; The World is Your Classroom; Cultural Selfie; and General.
The winning photos were:
- Cultural Selfie (also the Facebook Most Likes and Overall Winner): “A Monumental Selfie”—Aleena Ross, materials science and engineering (India)
- Landscapes, Buildings, and Bridges: “We are the Predators”—Jamie Yu, biomedical engineering (Botswana)
- The World is Your Classroom: “Ediciones Vigia”—Carolyn Manuck, biology (Cuba)
- General Category: “Dots”—Emma Steele, nursing (Denmark)
The honorable mentions were:
- “Interpretation of a Gargoyle”—Helen Wang, accounting (France)
- “The Courtyard of the Lions”—Zachary Tietelbaum, materials science and engineering (Spain)
- “Laundry by Trial and Error”—Mark Sturzl, computer engineering (Turkey)
- “Cultural Immersion Rids Ignorance”—Breeanna Usher, community practice for social change concentration (India)
All Study Abroad Photo Contest winners and honorable mentions were honored at the Center for International Affairs’ International Achievement Dinner in April. The winners received more than $300 combined in prize money. “A Monumental Selfie” joined the gallery of annual “Overall Winner” photos in Tomlinson Hall.
