The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated throughout much of Asia, as families gather to celebrate a successful harvest of rice and wheat and show appreciation for the moon. The full moon is a symbol of peace, prosperity and family reunion, and the Mid-Autumn Festival is traditionally when the moon is the brightest and fullest. The holiday is celebrated with mooncakes.

The Center for International Affairs, The Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Office of the Provost and First Year Experience will sponsor the on-campus event Monday, Sept. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Thwing Center. Student and community booths will offer games and activities to keep everyone entertained. The first 250 people will receive an Asian Mid-Autumn Festival picnic blanket.
