Changes made to Google Drive files without active owners

As previously announced, Google Drive files without active owners (people who have left the university) have the label “To Be Deleted” attached to them. Those accounts and the files owned by them will be deleted starting Feb. 1, 2024.

In addition to the label, the profile icon for those files will change from the owner’s profile picture to a trash can and the person’s display name will be changed to “DeletionSchedule – First Last”. When viewing files in Google Drive, if you notice any files with these changes, they are scheduled to be deleted Feb. 1. View the Google Files Shared By Suspended Users webpage for more information, including how to retain files that you still need.
