About the edition

Mintsa is a renowned author from Gabon and her novel was originally published in French as Histoire d’Awu in 2000. The new critical edition includes Toman’s translation of the entire novel into English along with her 30-page introduction. The volume also features a preface by Thérèse Kuoh-Moukoury, the first woman novelist of sub-Saharan Africa. Toman’s project was supported by the Office of Deputy Provost Lynn Singer through the ACES+ Opportunity Program.
