Students are invited to a Center for Engineering Action-VentureWell Fellow information meeting Thursday, Jan. 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Larry Sears and Sally Zlotnick Sears think[box].
The informational meeting will address a new program at Case Western Reserve University sponsored by VentureWell.
The opportunity is geared toward students who are interested in design for low-resource communities and sustainable design, have an idea for an invention, or what to take their idea to market.
Through the program, Center for Engineering Action-VentureWell Fellows will focus on sustainable design for low-resource settings. Student teams (either previously formed or created for this cohort) will work to formulate a product idea that is suited to compete for a VentureWell Entrepreneurial Team (E-Team) grant.
An E-Team is “a multidisciplinary group of students and faculty working together to bring a technology-based invention (product or service) to market.”
The program will offer students:
- CWRU faculty-led workshops on sustainable design in low-resource settings;
- Help navigating the VentureWell E-Team proposal process;
- Prototype funding;
- Opportunities to showcase their work and receive design review from experts; and
- A chance to join a team.
The types of products that are a fit for an E-Team will be an engineered, physical product that addresses a big problem or opportunity and positively impacts people or the environment.
Those who attend the informational meeting will learn about E-Teams, meet with faculty members and find out more about the program.
Pizza will be served.
