The Social Justice Institute and La Alianza invite the campus community to a celebration of poetry, art and music. The event will raise money for HOLA, a northeast Ohio-based grassroots organization that focuses on community organizing, leadership development, civic engagement and immigration reform.
The event, titled A Celebration of Poetry, Art, and Music: A Benefit for HOLA, will be held Friday, Nov. 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Hovorka Atrium.
There is a $5 minimum donation to attend. Tickets can be purchased through CampusGroups or at the door.
Students, faculty and staff can participate in the event by:
- Reading one of their own poems or reciting one by a favorite poet or author;
- Discussing a painting or sculpture that has meaning to them;
- Sharing a family heirloom, photograph or piece of cultural clothing of special importance; or
- Singing a song.
Those who would like to participate in the event should contact Social Justice Institute Co-Director John Flores at john.flores@case.edu.
