LorkTech, a technology company created by students from Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Institute of Art, will host a charity benefit, “Celebrating Sustainability & Entrepreneurship” April 2. The event, which features guest speakers and dinner, will benefit Kids Against Hunger, whose Cleveland chapter was launched by first-year student Aditya Rengaswamy. Kids Against Hunger serves as a key supplier of nutritious and affordable meal packs.
Guest speakers include Jenita McGowan, chief of sustainability for the City of Cleveland; Cathy Belk, chief relationship officer for JumpStart Inc.; Ian Charnas, operations manager at Case Western Reserve University’s think[box]; and Stephanie Corbett, sustainability director of Case Western Reserve. The speakers will discuss the importance of local innovation, technology and social enterprise in the Cleveland community.
The event will be held April 2 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Thwing Center Ballroom.
Tickets for the event are $40, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Cleveland chapter of Kids Against Hunger; the $40 donation will provide 200 nutritious meals to the Cleveland community. Undergraduate students can obtain free tickets by contacting Brian Weiser at baw65@case.edu.
