Case Western Reserve University’s Presidential Inauguration Week concludes today with the ceremony itself—and crème brulee ice cream.
In recognition of President Eric W. Kaler’s affinity for the flavor, Mitchell’s Ice Cream not only is featuring it at the Uptown location today—co-founder Mike Mitchell created it especially for the occasion.
Founded in 1999 by local natives Mike and his brother Pete, Mitchell’s now has 10 stores—and also offers its sweet treats in more than three dozen groceries and markets across Northeast Ohio. The Uptown shop opened fully to the public in January of 2013; despite the frigid winter, it immediately became a CWRU favorite.
To mark today’s occasion, the Uptown location is offering 10% discounts to students, faculty and staff who show their university ID cards. Meanwhile, 21% discounts on CWRU gear continue at the Barnes and Noble campus bookstore today; to clarify, the savings at time of purchase applies only to a single campus-related item.
Finally, forecasts for rain and thunder this afternoon means the student watch party planned for the Case Quad will instead be at Strosacker Auditorium; refreshments still will be available there. People also can watch online; register to receive the link.
