Case Kismat Fusion Dance Team wins national competition

On Saturday, March 21, Case Kismat Fusion Dance Team won first place at Buckeye Mela, a dance competition at the Ohio State University. Kismat competed against seven other teams from all over the country. It was the first time the team has won a competition in its three-year tenure.

In addition to winning Buckeye Mela, Kismat also competed at the University of Iowa’s competition, Nachte Raho, on Saturday, Feb. 21, and won the People’s Choice Award out of nine teams.

Founded in fall 2012, Kismat is a fusion dance team that incorporates different dance styles into high-energy routines to be performed on campus and at national competitions. The team is composed of undergraduate students, and is entirely student-run and choreographed. This has been the team’s most successful year yet—they were admitted to five national competitions and competed at three.
