Can we trust the experts? Focco Van den Akker, associate professor of biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, will discuss the problem of truth-seeking institutions and the difficulty of discerning fact from fiction in the modern world during an upcoming talk.
Part of the Open Discourse Lecture & Discussion Series, Van den Akker will present “Can We Trust The Experts?” Monday, April 1, from 12:45 to 2 p.m. in Mather House, Room 100.
During the talk, Van den Akker will discuss the various structures we have in society for discerning truth, and the challenges ordinary citizens face in a world filled with disinformation, along with his program for helping citizens develop methods for finding truth amid so much disinformation.
