Created and managed by Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine researchers, Pathogens and Immunity is an open access journal that publishes original research, reviews and commentaries. The journal launched in May 2016, and focuses on pathogens, host defenses and other clinically relevant aspects of immunity.
The journal is now fully indexed on PubMed Central, which contains medical research hosted and operated by the National institutes of Health and National Library of Medicine. Journals on PubMed Central have all articles, regardless of their funding source or country of origin, indexed on the site. Only journals with two years of publishing experience may apply, and the rigorous review process takes several months to examine the journal’s editorial, scientific and technical quality.
The journal’s editorial team includes editor-in-chief Michael Lederman; senior editors Donald Anthony, Robert Bonomo, Mahmoud Ghannoum and Neil Greenspan; managing editor Rob Lucas; poetry editor Daniel Douek; and Nikhil Chand, who does IT.
Unique features of Pathogens and Immunity include:
- The journal is grant-funded.
- There are no fees to authors for submission or publication.
- Authors don’t need to reformat manuscripts until after they are accepted for publication.
- Each volume is unique by showcasing artwork from the Cleveland Museum of Art.
