Campus community asked to reduce energy consumption for possible energy reduction event this week

Power grid operator PJM sent notification to be on alert for a possible energy reduction event this week.

With this in mind, all members of the campus community are asked to reduce their energy consumption by turning off non-essential equipment in offices, classrooms, or laboratories, such as lights, printers, copiers or other electronic devices.

Case Western Reserve University is a member of the voluntary electricity-reduction program of power grid operator PJM’s Emergency Demand Response program.

When operators see demand is becoming too high, they ask their members to lower electrical usage by transferring critical electrical loads to emergency generators and turning off portions of lighting in public areas.

The Office of Campus Planning and Facilities Management thanks the university community for their patience and assistance with this request.
