Search committee forms to find new Flora Stone Mather Center for Women director

Case Western Reserve University is seeking nominations for director of the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women, a full-time staff position.

The new director will provide overall leadership and administration of the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women, including staff and student supervision, resource management, university leadership in matters pertaining to women, and creation and oversight of programs related to women. The director advises university partners regarding policies related to women’s concerns and collaborates with schools and other university units, alumnae, donors, its Advisory Board, and the community. The director conducts and oversees community outreach and engages in ongoing development efforts to secure individual, grant and endowment funding.

Amy Backus, athletic director and chair of physical education, will lead the search committee for the new director. Backus joined the university in April 2014, and leads a department that offers 19 varsity sports, 14 club sports and 35 intramural activities, and a team of faculty and staff that totals 60.

  • Helen Day, executive assistant to the deputy provost and vice president for academic affairs;
  • Hilary Garon, president of the Community Advisory Board for the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women;
  • Jessie Hill, associate dean for faculty development and research and the Judge Ben C. Green Professor of Law;
  • Karen Horowitz, associate professor of medicine in the Division of Clinical and Molecular Endocrinology;
  • Jacqueline Nanfito, associate professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literature;
  • Naomi Sigg, director of Multicultural Affairs;
  • Heather Clayton-Terry, associate director for Women in Science and Engineering; and
  • James T’ien, the Leonard Case Jr. Professor of Engineering.
