“Bridging the Gap: Cross-Cultural Communication in Healthcare for International Populations”

Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to join the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences-based Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Learning Group for its next meeting Wednesday, Sept. 18, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Wood Building, Room 74, and via Zoom.

During these meetings, attendees share their personal and professional experiences relevant to diversity, equity and inclusion in research. The goal of these meetings is for attendees to walk away with actionable knowledge to incorporate in their work, and to build new collaborations and networks.

The topic for the Sept. 18 session will be “Bridging the Gap: Cross-Cultural Communication in Healthcare for International Populations.” Churyl Croone, director of the Office of International Student Resources and Engagement, and Yassine Echcherki, associate director in the office, will lead this session.

The presenters will focus on assumptions that may occur in intercultural communication and how awareness and adjustment in these aspects can reduce communication gaps that may affect diagnosis, treatment and patient outcomes.

Individuals are encouraged to attend the session in person. To request the Zoom link, email Rebecca Miller at rdm124@case.edu.
