Bon Appétit will launch a new, allergy-friendly program at Fribley Café at Case Western Reserve University. “The Oasis” station will be an option for students after they return from spring break, Tuesday, March 17, and will be available Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner.
The Oasis is a destination for students who are part of the estimated 15 million Americans with food allergies and intolerances. The healthy, balanced meals served at this station are made without the use of eight major allergens and gluten.
Staffed with a culinary expert to drive healthy and flavorful options, the ingredients used at The Oasis are vetted from delivery to plate for the safety and assurance of students and guests. “From our experience, students simply want a safe place to make confident food choices and this station provides them with that,” Dayna Einheit, Bon Appétit dietitian, said. “It will better serve our students with special dietary needs, while still appealing to the masses.”
The Office of Campus Services played a key role by advocating for the pilot program coming to campus. CWRU “continues to be a great partner in helping us to bring safe and healthy culinary choices to the community,” Jim O’Brien, Bon Appétit’s resident district manager, said.
