Bocce league forming at CWRU for entire campus community; sign up now

A bocce league is launching at Case Western Reserve University, with its inaugural season being held July 11-27. All students, faculty and staff are invited to form teams of two to four players. Gather friends and co-workers to have fun while meeting new people. Players at any level—even those new to the game—are welcome.

League games will be held the last three Wednesdays of July, with games scheduled between 5 and 7 p.m. on campus, playing on grass. Joining the league costs just $5 per team for the season. No team? No problem. Commissioner Mike Suglio will put you onto a team you can’t refuse; just ask him already.

Friday evenings will be for open games, which are not required for league standings.

The League is cosponsored by Newman Catholic Campus Ministry and the Jolly Scholar, which offers 10 percent discounts on food and drink for all players on nights of play and “Jolly Prizes” each week.

Scores will be posted on the Facebook event, with special winners each week like “Most favuloso play” and “La serenissima” or “I piu creativi!”

For more information, contact commissioners Suglio or Tony Vento. There is a limited amount of space available for teams, so sign up online as soon as possible.

After signing up, participants will be notified if their team will play at 5 or 6 p.m., based on the team’s availability.

Please arrive promptly at the Jolly Scholar to see the competition, or come early to soak up la dolce vita of CWRU in summertime, rain or shine.
