Black Trans Lives Matter Vigil

The Student National Medical Association/Latino Medical Student Association and CaseMed Pride will host a Black Trans Lives Matter Vigil Saturday, June 20, at 4 p.m. at Wade Lagoon. The event was created in response to the recent murders of Dominique “Rem’Mie” Fells and Riah Milton, two Black trans women. The organizations decided to bring awareness to the tragedies.

Members of the campus community are invited to attend the vigil to mourn the Black trans lives that have been lost this year and to reflect on how medical professionals may contribute to mistreatment and erasure of Black trans individuals. The event will include short remarks followed by a reading of the names of victims. Attendees will practice social distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Those who have them are encouraged to come in white coat attire with a mask; other materials will be provided.
