The Plain DealerNicole Steinmetz, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, was awarded an Ebola rapid response grant to help find a way to detect the virus sooner. “What we are developing is a more reliable positive control that could be plucked into the current [test],” she said. “We’re not aiming to change it completely, just so that the risk is lower or eliminated, ideally.”
