Valerie Haywood, instructor in the Department of Biology, was invited to present her research on biology education at the annual meeting of the National Association of Biology Teachers last fall.
Haywood’s talk, titled ” Concept Maps as a Student-Centered Approach for Teaching Photosynthesis to Undergraduate Students,” demonstrated the value of active-learning tools in biology education and also identified common student misconceptions about biology topics.
