Lessons from the brains of cockroaches could build better robots
The Columbus Dispatch: Roy Ritzmann, professor of biology, and Josh Martin, a post-doctoral scholar in biology, explained how they’re working in the lab to determine what brain cells light up when a cockroach performs specific tasks. The hope is that by understanding these movements, it could lead to the development of more sophisticated robots to be used in search and rescue missions. “We want to build robots that operate like a well-trained dog,” Ritzmann said.
