Award-winning biographer and historian Daniel Stashower will be on campus Feb. 4 to discuss the riveting true story of “The Baltimore Plot,” a little-known plan to assassinate Abraham Lincoln as his train made its way from Springfield, Ill., to Washington, D.C., for his presidential inauguration. The free, public event is presented by the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities at Case Western Reserve University.
Stashower, the author of six nonfiction works, will focus on the plot of his latest work, The Hour of Peril: The Secret Plot to Murder Lincoln Before the Civil War, which will be published this month.
The talk will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Iris S. and Bert L. Wolstein Building. A book signing, co-sponsored by the Cuyahoga County Library, will follow the talk.
Stashower is a two-time winner of the Edgar Agatha Award, a winner of the Anthony Award, and the Raymond Chandler Fulbright Fellowship in Detective Fiction. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, National Geographic Traveller and Smithsonian magazine.
