Beware of scammers claiming to be conducting COVID-19 contact tracing

Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are advised to beware of a scamming attempt in which people are reaching out claiming to be tracing COVID-19 contacts.

Contact tracing is being conducted by legitimate health agencies, such as the Cuyahoga County Board of Health and Cleveland Department of Public Health. However, these organizations will never ask for social security or bank account information.

Additionally, individuals should not click on links or respond to texts indicating they have been exposed to COVID-19.

Those who receive such attempts are advised to report them online or call 216.443.SCAM.
