WEWS: Daniel Flannery, director of the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education, discussed proposed legislation aimed at preventing local governments from recouping the cost of calling 911 for emergency services. “Charging people for the services certainly discourages them from making that call,” he said. “We don’t want a tragedy to occur where someone fails to call for help because of these potential concerns and issues.”
