Beep baseball game

The Cleveland Scrappers are a team of blind and visually impaired athletes who play an adaptive version of baseball. It is called beep baseball because the ball emits an audible tone that enables blind players to hit and field. Cleveland is home to Ohio’s only beep baseball team, meaning all of the Cleveland Scrappers’ games are played out of state.

Traveling can get expensive and the Case Western Reserve University Division of Public Safety is helping raise money to offset some of their costs. The goal is to get the Scrappers to the 2025 National Beep Baseball World Series in St. Charles, Missouri.

How can you help? You can attend a baseball game between blind/visually impaired athletes and blindfolded officers with the CWRU Division of Public Safety.

The game will be played Saturday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. at Van Horn Field. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs or a blanket. Parking is available at the university garage located next to the field.

Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be sold, and there will be a chance to enter to win gift baskets.
