Become a host family with ELS Cleveland

ELS Cleveland, the English language center on CWRU campus, has begun to receive applications from international students and groups again after a hiatus and slow return to business in 2020 due to the pandemic. With international students and faculty taking extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of all who come to ELS, students are beginning to feel more confident in their decision to study abroad successfully during this challenging time, and we are experiencing an increase in our international student body.

With so many new students and groups booking their classes, the ELS Language Center is looking for new families in the Cleveland area who are interested in becoming Host Families! Host Families welcome students into their homes for a minimum of 4 weeks, speaking English with the student, sharing meals together, and giving the student the opportunity to experience the city through the eyes of a local. This is cultural immersion at its most powerful level, and both students and Host Families will experience true connect and unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.

Host Families can rest assured that our students are taking proper safety precautions and getting vaccinated while the pandemic is still present. Host Families also receive stipends and support from ELS each month that they host an international student. If a family in the area is interested in becoming a Host Family, they can contact the ELS Center Director, Leanna Ross, at LROSS@ELS.EDU, or call 216-368-2716, for more details.
