Awards available for MD, PhD students interested in environmental and occupational health

Announcing an environmental and occupational health funding and training opportunity for MD and PhD students in the CWRU School of Medicine: Applications are now being accepted for the 2024-2025 Daniel Lewis Ravin, MD Award.

The Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health offers 1-3 Ravin Awards per year to trainees who are committed to furthering their professional development in environmental and occupational health. The $10,000 award supports:

  1. $8,000 for stipend support at CWRU School of Medicine AND/OR Research Costs (i.e., data collection,
    participant stipends)
  2. $2,000 Professional development (i.e., attendance at a national conference, additional training in these
    fields.

Awardees, in consultation with a mentor from the Swetland Center, will develop a budget defining how the professional development and/or research costs will be used during the 12-month award period.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Current MD student or PhD Student (successfully completed qualifying exam) in good standing at CWRU School of Medicine.
  2. Demonstrated interest in the fields of occupational and environmental health.
  3. Commitment to complete additional training and/or research in occupational and environmental health.

Priority will be given to applicants whose interests align with the key research areas of the Swetland Center:

  • Food Systems and Health Equity
  • Air Quality and Health
  • Environmental Justice
