On Sept. 19, Case Western Reserve University will join 49 other universities and medical schools hosting a screening of the documentary, Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare. The free, public event will be held in Strosacker Auditorium at 7 p.m.
The film, which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, explores one of the most pressing questions of our time: How do we fix the health care system? From directors Matthew Heineman and Susan Froemke, an Emmy-winning, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker, Escape Fire has won numerous awards at film festivals, including the Human Rights Award at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and the Social Issue Award at the Silverdocs Film Festival.
The documentary screening is co-sponsored by the CWRU chapters of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Open School, Student National Medical Association, American Medical Student Association and Undergraduate Student Nursing Association.
